Helping You Understand What Matters Most

Therapy, Assessment, and Consultation for Children, Teens, Adults, and Families

Helping people better understand themselves, their children, and their experiences. Creating clarity that supports meaningful change.

At River House Psychology, we believe people are inherently resilient and capable of growth, healing, and thriving.

Meaningful change begins with understanding.

Whether you're seeking support for your child, navigating challenges in your family, personally struggling with anxiety, trauma, or depression, or simply trying to better understand yourself, our role is to help make the complex feel clearer.

We believe that understanding creates insight. Insight creates direction. Direction supports action. And, action creates meaningful change.

Through therapy, assessment, and consultation, we help people uncover patterns, make sense of experiences, and identify practical next steps that align with their goals, values, and strengths.

Our Approach

How We Help

01. We Help You Understand

Many people come to us feeling confused about what is happening or why things aren't improving despite their best efforts.

We help uncover patterns, identify underlying needs, and make sense of experiences in ways that feel practical, relatable, and useful.

Whether you're trying to understand your child's behavior, navigate a diagnosis, improve relationships, or make sense of your own experiences, clarity creates opportunities for growth.

02. We Build Meaningful Connections

Healing and growth happen in relationships.

Whether we're working with a child, teen, parent, adult, or family, we focus on strengthening understanding, communication, and connection.

Our goal is to create a space where people feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood.

03. We Create a Clear Path Forward

Insight matters most when it informs action.

We work collaboratively to identify meaningful next steps that align with your goals, values, strengths, and circumstances.

Because understanding isn't the end point; it's the foundation for moving forward with greater confidence and intention.

Our Services

Services Designed Around Your Needs

Therapy

Support for children, teens, and adults navigating life's challenges.

Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, behavioral concerns, or life transitions, therapy can provide support, perspective, and practical tools for growth.

Assessment

Comprehensive psychological evaluations that provide clarity when questions feel complex, confusing, or difficult to answer.

Our assessments help identify strengths, understand challenges, clarify diagnoses, and guide meaningful next steps at home, school, work, and in treatment.

Consultation

Specialized consultation services for parents, schools, and individuals seeking additional support, guidance, or clarity.

When therapy and assessment aren’t the right fit, consultation may be helpful. Our consultation services use fewer meetings to help you meet your goals.

When You Need Answers, Assessment Can Provide Clarity

Sometimes the most important question isn't "What should we do?"

It's: "What's really going on?"

Psychological assessment helps answer important questions about learning, attention, emotional functioning, behavior, development, and diagnostic concerns.

Whether you're exploring ADHD, giftedness, twice-exceptionality, learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia), trauma, or broader emotional and behavioral concerns, our goal is to provide thoughtful answers that help guide meaningful next steps.

We believe assessments should do more than provide diagnoses.

They should help people feel understood.

Areas of assessment include:

  • Neurodiversity (i.e., ADHD, Giftedness, & Twice-Exceptionality)

  • Learning Disorders (i.e., Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, & Dysgraphia)

  • School Admissions

  • Mental Health (e.g., Anxiety, Depression)

  • Diagnostic Clarification

About River House Psychology

Expertise with a Human Approach

River House Psychology was founded with a simple but deeply held belief: people thrive when others around them understand how they think, feel, and experience the world.

Before becoming a psychologist, Dr. Kim Bowers Yoshino spent years in the classroom as an elementary school teacher. Working closely with children every day offered a front-row seat to the complexity of learning, behavior, and emotional development. Dr. Kim saw how often children struggled when their needs were misunderstood or oversimplified.

Over time, it became clear that many challenges labeled as “behavior problems” or “academic concerns” were rooted in deeper developmental, emotional, or neurodivergent differences. Wanting to better understand the why beneath these struggles and to support children and families more effectively ultimately led to the creation of River House Psychology.

Today, River House Psychology provides therapy, psychological assessment, and consultation for children, adolescents, and adults. Our work integrates clinical psychology with a strong understanding of educational systems, development, and neurodiversity.

We approach care thoughtfully and intentionally, combining evidence-based practice with a collaborative, strengths-informed lens. Whether through assessment, therapy, or consultation, our goal is to offer clarity, guidance, and support that extends beyond sessions and into daily life at home and school.

River House Psychology was created to be a place where families feel supported, informed, and equipped. And, where understanding leads to meaningful, practical change over time.
