Our Story
Every person has a story.
Sometimes that story is easy to recognize—a child struggling with anxiety, a teenager overwhelmed by school, an adult navigating a life transition, or a family searching for a way forward. More often, it is less visible. A gifted student whose strengths mask ADHD. A child whose behavior is communicating stress rather than defiance. An adult who has spent years wondering why certain things have always felt harder than they seemed for everyone else. A family who has seen multiple providers but still feels like they don't have the full picture.
River House was created for those moments.
We believe meaningful change begins with understanding. Before strategies, before labels, before treatment plans, there is a person whose experiences deserve to be understood with curiosity, compassion, and clinical expertise.
Over the years, one pattern became impossible to ignore. People weren't simply looking for therapy or an evaluation—they were looking for someone who could connect the dots. They wanted more than a diagnosis. They wanted clarity. They wanted someone who could understand the relationship between emotions, learning, development, relationships, and the environments people move through every day. They wanted recommendations that made sense not only on paper, but in real life.
Too often, the people supporting an individual are working in separate systems. Therapists, psychologists, physicians, educators, and families may each hold an important piece of the puzzle, yet those pieces are rarely brought together into one cohesive picture.
River House exists to bridge those gaps.
Whether we are providing therapy, conducting a comprehensive psychological or psychoeducational evaluation, consulting with parents, collaborating with schools, or helping adults better understand themselves, our purpose is the same: to transform complexity into clarity. We believe that when people truly understand themselves or the people they love, they are empowered to make thoughtful, confident decisions about what comes next.
Our work is grounded in science, but it is equally rooted in human connection. We believe the best care comes from listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and recognizing that no two people share the same story. Every recommendation is individualized. Every evaluation is comprehensive. Every therapy session is guided by evidence, curiosity, and respect for the whole person.
The name River House reflects this philosophy.
A river is constantly moving. Sometimes the current feels peaceful, and sometimes it feels overwhelming. Yet over time, rivers shape landscapes; not through force, but through steady, intentional movement. A house represents stability, refuge, and belonging. Together, River House represents a place where people can pause, gain perspective, and find steady guidance as they navigate life's changing seasons.
Today, River House provides evidence-based therapy, comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessment, parent consultation, school consultation, and diagnostic services for children, adolescents, adults, and families. We have a particular passion for supporting gifted and twice-exceptional individuals, as well as those navigating ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, autism, emotional challenges, and questions about identity, development, or school success. Whatever brings someone through our doors, our commitment remains the same: to provide thoughtful, individualized care rooted in understanding.
Because understanding doesn't simply explain the past. It creates the clarity needed to move toward meaningful change.
Whether you're seeking answers, support, or a deeper understanding of yourself or someone you love, we're honored to be part of your story. We hope River House becomes a place where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward with confidence.
